Taking your first breaths underwater is always unforgettable, and the Red Sea is one of the best places to do it. With warm water, excellent visibility, and vibrant marine life, Sharm el-Sheikh offers the perfect conditions for beginners.

From the safety of our house reef to gentle boat dives, our courses are designed to build confidence while letting you experience the magic of the underwater world step by step.

What Makes the Red Sea Special for Beginners?

The Red Sea is renowned for its crystal-clear waters, with visibility often exceeding 30 meters. Water temperatures remain warm year-round, typically between 22°C and 28°C, making it comfortable even without a thick wetsuit.

The marine life here is incredibly diverse — from colourful reef fish and sea turtles to dolphins and rays. Even on your very first dive, you are likely to encounter something extraordinary.

Your First Day at Sunshine Divers

When you arrive at our dive centre, our team will welcome you and walk you through everything you need to know. You will start with a briefing covering basic diving theory, hand signals, and safety procedures.

Next, you will practise essential skills in shallow water — breathing through your regulator, clearing your mask, and controlling your buoyancy. Once you feel comfortable, your instructor will guide you on your first open-water dive.

Tips for First-Time Divers

  • Relax and breathe slowly — the more relaxed you are, the better your experience will be
  • Equalise early and often — pinch your nose and gently blow to relieve pressure in your ears
  • Stay close to your instructor — they are there to guide you every step of the way
  • Do not touch the coral — look with your eyes, not your hands
