When the sun sets over the Red Sea, a completely different underwater world comes alive. Night diving in Sharm el-Sheikh offers a unique perspective on familiar dive sites, revealing nocturnal creatures and behaviours you will never see during the day.

What Makes Night Diving Special?

As darkness falls, the reef transforms. Coral polyps extend to feed, creating a soft, colourful carpet over the hard structures you see by day. Hunting lionfish prowl the reef edges, octopuses emerge from their hiding spots, and bioluminescent plankton create tiny sparks of light with every movement of your fins.

Your torch beam becomes your window into this world — illuminating colours that are even more vivid than in daylight, because there is no blue water filtering out the reds and oranges.

Our House Reef at Night

One of the best places to experience night diving is right at our house reef. You do not need a boat — just walk in from the shore and discover a reef you thought you knew in an entirely new way.

Spanish dancers, sleeping parrotfish in their mucus cocoons, hunting moray eels, and shy crabs are just some of the creatures you are likely to encounter.

Is Night Diving Safe?

Absolutely. Night diving is safe when done with proper preparation and an experienced guide. At Sunshine Divers, we always conduct a thorough briefing before night dives, covering torch signals, buddy procedures, and navigation techniques.

You will need an Advanced Open Water certification or equivalent to join our night dives, though we also offer the PADI Night Diver specialty course for those who want dedicated training.
