Diving and good food simply go together – and that includes gluten-free!
Our guest Uli shared his experience along with his family, describing how easy and delicious it all was with us. Here is his report:
"Gluten-Free Diving.
What does gluten-free have to do with diving? Technically nothing – coeliac disease is generally not a medical reason to give up the best hobby in the world. But everything around it can be a challenge. While everyone else on the dive boat happily tucks into freshly prepared local specialities from the galley, those with coeliac disease are usually left with salad and fruit, and with a bit of luck some rice – as long as there are no pasta pieces hidden in it. But not with Mary, Klaus, and the Sunshine Divers team! On board their own dive boat "My Sunshine", guests who depend on gluten-free food are looked after with just as much care and attention.
Soups were prepared separately for my daughter, and great care was taken to keep the main dishes gluten-free as well. The only things she couldn't eat were the fried bread, the pasta salad, and the cake – but in their place she received her own portion of fresh fruit. **For anyone living with coeliac disease, simply being able to eat along with everyone else without worry is just wonderful.** And was everything truly gluten-free? Yes! My daughter reacts extremely strongly to even the smallest traces of gluten – if anything had contained it, diving would have been off the table for several days. And since she completed her Open Water Diver, then her Nitrox certification, and afterwards her Advanced Open Water Diver course – one each day – **everything must genuinely have been gluten-free.**
Fantastic! Thank you so much, Sunshine Divers. You are truly one of a kind. Uli"
